Job Description:

Position Title: Service Technician

Date: 10/5/09 (Updated from 2007)

Position Summary: Provide support to the organization and customers for palletizer electrical engineering, field start ups, field service, inspections, upgrades and training.  Perform shop testing on all new palletizers at factory.  Take a leadership role in growing Lambert’s parts and service business through identification of market opportunities, development of strategies and actions to grow the parts and service business.

Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide field start up for all new palletizers.
  • Complete downloading of programming into palletizer control panel and perform shop testing at conclusion of shop assembly.
  • Perform field inspections of installed palletizers including development of recommended spares based on inspection performed.
  • Supervise rebuild of palletizers in the field as required by customers.
  • Provide customer training on start up of new palletizers including operation, maintenance and safety.
  • Work with organization and customer to provide any programming changes as required by customer.
  • Work with engineering organization to develop electrical controls standards for Lambert and Raesco product lines.
  • Work with Engineering and Purchasing to develop controls BOM’s and process for purchasing parts for contract orders.
  • Write programming changes as required for new palletizer, system and pattern installs.
  • Provide phone support (both in house and on the road) to customers in need of technical support.
  • Provide Electrical Engineering support on new units, changes and pattern additions.
  • Support Global Material Handling strategic initiatives related to possible synergies involving electrical controls between all business units including Lambert, Raesco, Aloi and any future additions to the Global business portfolio.

 

Position Qualifications:

  • 2 year degree in electronics (Minimum)
  • 10 years of field experience
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • PLC programming
  • Willingness to travel at least 50% of time

Position Summary:  Provide leadership and support to both the organization and customers for all electrical and programming needs including in house orders and existing installations in the field.  Duties include design, quotation support, customer support, programming, shop testing and field testing.  Additional duties could also involve panel building, wiring and field service work including inspection, programming, pattern changes and rebuilds.

Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Develop panel standards for all palletizer models at Lambert
  • Determine standards for each model
  • Develop list of standard options and prices for each
  • Drive cost reduction opportunities based on standardization of product
  • Identify customer requirements and Lambert solutions
  • Identify market trends for future product development
  • Provide programming for all contracts and customer modifications
  • Working with customers, sales and engineering, develop programming for each contract order
  • Drive programming standardization process across the business
  • Provide electrical and programming support for sales organization
  • Working with sales and engineering, provide technical and pricing support on all quotes
  • Make design recommendations to sales and customer
  • Responsible for panel building should Lambert decide to build our own panels
  • Responsible for all engineering and modifications to panels and programming during shop testing
  • Responsible for field testing and start up of palletizers, if required, based on order backlog and shop load
  • Responsible for Field Service support including inspections, programming, pattern changes and rebuilds based on customer requirements and order backlog
